THE STUDIO

Estudio Medea is a full featured commercial studio facility, servicing all of your Recording, Mixing, Mastering and Post-Production needs.

Our 3,000+ sq/ft recording facility houses two studios blessed by world class acoustic design (featured in Mix Magazine "Class of 2024" June, 2024 issue) courtesy of HD Acoustics.

In an era of the incredible shrinking studio, we've decidedly gone in the opposite direction. Our spacious Studio A live room features 15 ft. ceilings with massive wrap around diffusion that lays the sonic foundation for any project, regardless of size. The generous footprint also allows for musicians to record live and direct without the need of countless compartmentalized overdubbing that has become the norm today.

Our control rooms naturally follow our no compromise design principles and occupy a combined area of ~1,000 sq/ft with 12+ ft. ceilings. The rooms feature a number of unique components such as the HD Acoustics ARG Diffusers wall system and the collaboration with AudioKinesis which designed and built our flush mounted 7 ft. mains for critical monitoring.

Equipment-wise, our control rooms take a hybrid approach, embracing all the necessary high end digital tools but placing a special attention on its analog counterparts. We have established a very unique workflow where most projects are recorded to reel to reel tape, with a real-time transfer to the digital domain. This gives us the classic analog tape sound while maintaining all of the benefits of the digital DAW workflow.

Control Room A features a fully restored and heavily modified 1978 MCI JH-538. This classic 38 channel console features an pioneering inline design with a high rails, high headroom design. MCI guru technician Damir “Roginator” Rogina further refined the classic by implementing dozens of modifications and upgrading all mic preamps to a fully discrete class-A design. Special thanks Philip Bova’s of Sage Electronics for supplying his wonderful SE-DOT opamps.

The outboard and microphone selection that we offer is highly curated, and feature pieces that go as far back as the early 50’s. From classic to highly esoteric, the variety in our collection is meant to inspire and to push the sonic boundaries of your project(s). LOCATION

Estudio Medea is located in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in a centrally located neighborhood 10 - 15 minutes away from the old city and beaches and ~30 mins to the beautiful rural mountainside.

We would be more than happy to assist you with complete planning of a destination recording. A scenario where you can fly in and immerse yourself in a completely different environment that we know will help inspire as you work on your project at your own pace.
